Following is a list of what you need for Key Words — with links to examples on Amazon:
Writing books — Steps 1 – 4: 12″ x 18″ Drawing Paper. Staple 5 sheets together, in the upper left hand corner only. Use colored construction paper for the cover.
Writing books — Advanced Step 4 to early Step 6 –use half-lined pages 8″ x 12″ paper (leaving room for a drawing) and construction paper for the covers. Again, staple upper left hand corner only.
Word Rings: Best to buy rings locally, so you can test for ease in opening/closing them, so the child can operate. But they’re also available from Amazon here. (A shower curtain ring will also do.)
Pens for Adults: Chisel-tip Marking Pens for writing the Key Word and Fine-tip Marking Pens for writing sentences. (Use the same color pen for all Key Words, so child doesn’t use color as a clue for remembering a word. Color doesn’t matter for writing sentences, for child is not expected to recognize old sentences.)
Pens for Children: It’s best to start out with something the child is not used to having. This makes Key Words more special. Here are some examples. Also consider colored pencils.
Paper Punch: It’s best to buy this locally, to check for ease of operation. But here’s one on Amazon.
